She was born Dec. 8, 1868, in Lancastershire, England, a daughter of Peter and Elizabeth Plant Anderton. She came to the United States with her parents when she was 9 months old. They first settled in Pennsylvania, later moving to Salt Lake City. They moved to Evanston in 1872 and on Dec. 24, 1889, she was married her to Joseph L. Carpenter.
The family resided at Robertson on a ranch which they had homesteaded in 1897, until the death of Mr. Carpenter. Since that time she had made her home here.
She was a member of the Methodist church and was the last charter member of Round Mountain Circle 411, Neighbors of Woodcraft.
Surviving are seven sons and daughters: Raymond L. Carpenter, Mrs. Hannah E. Robbins, Mrs. Minerva M. Williams and Mrs. Emma B. Moon, Evanston: Joseph P. Carpenter, Mountain View; Robert W. Carpenter, Wamsutter, and Mrs. Jennie A. Robbins, Bittercreek; six brothers and sisters: Mrs. Annie B. Anderson and Mrs. Bertha Ingersoll, Evanston; Mrs. Jennie Heinen, Ogden, Utah; Mrs. Martha Ingersoll, Oakland, Cal.; Mrs. Elizabeth Jeffs, Caliente, Nev.;and Mrs. Alice Bradbury, Sparks, Nev.; 40 grandchildren and 58 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. in the Methodist church by Rev. Charles W. Roberts, pastor. Burial will be in the City Cemetery, where the Neighbors of Woodcraft will conduct graveside services.
