Mary Joann Sampson, 62, was a daughter of Robert and Mary Jordine Schapmire. She married Jerry Sampson November 28, 1953, in Bloomington, Illinois. He survives.

Other survivors include one daughter, Debra Bork, one son Dennis Sampson, four grandchildren, one sister, Betty Cave and three brothers, Robert Schapmire, Andrew Schapmire and Roy Schapmire.

Mrs. Sampson was retired from Citizens Savings Bank. She had been working as a supervisor for the Senior Peace Meal Program.

She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Eagles Lodge 527. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting.

Mary and Jerry were married at Park Methodist Church.
As a teenager she worked at Livingston's Department Store. Later on she worked at Montgomery Wards (Downtown Bloomington) and at Western Avenue Community Center serving Peace Meal. She enjoyed her Senior Citizens and everyone working at Western Avenue Community Center.
She is loved and missed by her family.

Cause of Death: Systemic Scleroderma

Grandma always said she was going to be buried where she was born. She was born in a house which was later claimed by eminent domain and sold to this cemetery. Her plot lies within 200 feet of where their old house once stood.
