Ethel Elzira Wineinger Wise, daughter of Samuel Lafayette and Anna Branson Wineinger, was born at Stockton, Kansas August 12, 1884, and passed to her reward on March 28, 1961 at Sand Diego, California, at the age of 76 years, seven moths and 16 days.

She was united in marriage to Hubert Harrison Wise October 16, 1903, at Bedford, Iowa which resulted in a companionship lasting almost 57 years. There was born to this union one son, Wyman Wineinger Wise, who with his wife Helen cared for his mother until hospitalization became necessary during the last months of her illness. All through their married life, Ethel worked at the side of her husband. They began their early married life on a farm near New Market. On disposing of the farm they conducted a jewelry store in New Market and later in Diagonal, Iowa. On selling the store they again engaged in farming.

In 1935 they moved to Braddyville, Iowa and engaged in business for a number of years until failing health compelled them to retire. They then move back to their home town of New Market, where they resided until Dec 6, 1959 when they moved at that tom to California to be with their son and wife.

She was preceded in death by her husband September 17, 1960. Those surviving besides her son and wife are two sisters, Mrs. Les Fulk and Mars. Nellie Ferrel, both of Glenwood, Iowa, a number of nieces and nephews, and many friends and brethren in Christ.

Ethel united with the Church of Christ at an early age and remained faithful to that faith until the day of her death. Only sickness could keep her from the services of the church.

Funeral services were conducted for the New Market Church of Christ at 2 pm Saturday, April 1, 1961 with Preacher Clarence Potter in charge, assisted by Rev I. E Stickelman. Music was by Harry Stout, I E Stickelman, Verla Malcom and Inez Jo Depew who sang "The Land Where We'll Never Grow Old" and "Shall We Gather at the River." Pianist was Janice Hardee.

Casket bearers who carried her to her final resting place in the Old Memory Cemetery were Les Fulk, Jess Brown, Robert Malcolm, Charles Depew, Merle Harland and Dell Damewood.
