Matilda A. Gilsdorf, 88, of 24 South 7th St., Hilbert died Monday, Nov. 11, 1991, at her home.
She was born Nov. 13, 1902, in Hilbert, the daughter of the late Andrew and Anna Britten Gehl. He attended Hilbert Schools. She was married on June 12, 1923, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hilbert. She was married to Othmar Gilsdorf. After marriage the couple had farmed in the town of Harrison for 25 years, moving into Hilbert in 1953, where Mrs. Gilsdorf had resided until the time of her death. She was a homemaker, a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Hilbert, a member of it Christian Mothers and a member of the Germania Society, Chilton.
Survivors include a daughter, Sister Marita Gilsdorf, ANG, of Hilbert; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Rev. Gordon Gilsdorf of Suamico, Richard and Lucy Gilsdorf of Sheboygan, David and Bernetta Gilsdorf of Kiel and Rev. Daniel Gilsdorf of Appleton; 19 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Mrs. Roland and Rosamond Kees of Sheboygan Falls; a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Emily Gehl of Hilbert; two sisters-in-law, Rose Gehl of Hilbert and Helen Gehl of Sheboygan Falls. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Othmar in 1986; six brothers, three sisters; a daughter-in-law and a grandson.
Services were at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Hilbert, with the Reverends Rallen Stencil, Gordon Gilsdorf and Daniel Gilsdorf concelebrating the mass. Homilist was Bishop Aloysius Wycislo. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
