Annette Wren Pipkin Davis, 45, loving wife and mother, went home to be with the Lord in the early hours of June 4th, 2011 surrounded by her family at the Baptist Hospital. Her death came after a near six-year battle with Multiple Myeloma Cancer, which ended with pneumonia and other complications. Visitation will be from 5-9 pm Tuesday at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence and 9:30 Wednesday morning at New Zion Baptist Church near Braxton. The funeral services are 11:00 am Wednesday at New Zion with burial in the church cemetery. Chancellor Funeral Home of Florence is in charge of the arrangements. The ministers will be Rev. Percy Campbell, Rev. Bruce Jolly, and Bro. Jimmy Errington. Pallbearers are: Lane and Mark Pipkin, Don and Chris Wren, Jeremy Davis, Clay Sizemore, Dan Harthcock, and Toby Andrews.

Annette was born to Neil and Joan Pipkin on April 5th, 1966, in Jackson, MS. As a child, she moved from Jackson to Florence graduating from Florence High School in 1984, where she enjoyed being involved in the band and the flag team. After high school, she attended Hinds Community College at Raymond where she earned her AA Degree and served as a Flag Captain.

After moving to Florence, Annette attended and became a member of Marvin United Methodist Church. In her early twenties she became involved in church youth work. She served as Youth Director at both Marvin United Methodist and Richland United Methodist Churches where she had the chance to touch the lives of many Rankin County area youth.

In 1998, Annette married Kevin Davis, moved to Braxton, and soon became a member of New Zion Baptist Church where she remained until her death. At New Zion she worked with both the youth and the children. For several summers, until her health failed, serving in the capacity of Vacation Bible School Director. She also had a beautiful singing voice and used it to honor God by singing specials in church. Her hobbies have included boating, swimming, and other water activities. She has often enjoyed and planned a trip white water rafting, to the beach, or a walk to a waterfall with her youth groups and her family.

Summer Vacation time and other family outings have provided great pleasure during her life. Annette has held many jobs during her working career. Some of the longest have been on the Staff of Galloway United Methodist Church, Icon Office Solutions in Jackson where she worked as an Inventory Control Manager, and Mississippi Allied Families.

In the last few years, health issues helped lead her to become a stay-home mom. At home, even through her own illness, she has graciously helped her husband care for her grandmother in-law, Freddie Davis. When her health has allowed her, she has also volunteered by helping with the Mendenhall High School Color Guard girls.

She is survived by her loving husband and soul mate of 12 years, Kevin W. Davis; three sons, Cody Collins, Sean Collins, and Jacob Davis, and one daughter, Emily Davis all of Braxton, MS; her parents, Neil L. and Joan Pipkin of Florence, MS; two brothers, Lane Pipkin of South Carolina and Mark Pipkin of Alabama; nephews, Greg and Kent Pipkin of South Carolina, and many friends and other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Charles and Alma (Lane) Pipkin and Leabert and Louise (Meier) Wren.

The family would like to thank all the people everywhere who have prayed for Annette and cared for our family through her extended illness with cancer. We would also like to recognize and extend our deepest gratitude to our wonderful church family at New Zion.
