Father Joseph Vincent Bozzelli

Father Joseph Vincent Bozzelli, age 70, of Worton, MD, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2011. Born in Philadelphia, PA on November 28, 1940, he was the son of the late Louis and Stella (Vignola) Bozzelli.

He received his early education at St. Mary Magdalen De Pazzi and St. John Neumann High School, Philadelphia. He attended La Salle University for two years before transferring to St. Norbert College, Pere, WI. He studied for the priesthood at St. Norbert Abbey, Pere, WI. He was ordained June 6, 1967 by Bishop McDevitt at the Daylesford Abbey, Paoli, PA for the Norbertine Fathers.

In 1971 Father Bozzelli earned a Master's degree in Counseling at Loyola University in Chicago. He was a teacher at St. John Neumann High School in Philadelphia, was principal and a counselor at Archmere Academy in Claymont, DE, and was associate director of admissions at St. Joseph University in Philadelphia. In 1993 he left St. Norbert Priory in Philadelphia to become associate pastor at Holy Cross in Dover, DE. In 1995 he was appointed to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton as an associate pastor. Father Bozzelli also served as an associate pastor at St. Joseph in Middletown, DE and at St. Christopher in Chester, MD.

Besides his parents, Father is preceded in death by his brothers Alfred and Charles Bozzelli. He is survived by his sisters Rosemary D'Angelo and her husband John of Philadelphia and Anna Marie Roberts and her husband William of Worton, MD. He is also survived by his niece Lisa Mutter and his nephews William Bozzelli and Charles Bozzelli Jr. He will be greatly missed by all those whose lives he touched.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 am Tuesday June 7, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 345 Bear-Christiana Road, Bear, DE. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington, DE.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to St. Christopher's Church, 1861 Harbor Drive, Chester, MD 21619.
