She married James Mellen at an unknown date and had six children - David, William, Mary, Betsey, Abigail, and James, Jr. Sons David and William later moved to Columbia County, New York and are buried at the Hudson City Cemetery at Hudson, New York.She was a daughter of James Russell-Rosshel and she was probably born in the Middlesex County area of Massachusetts. She was married to the Revolutionary War hero Colonel James Mellen. They married about 1761 and had perhaps eight children. He died in 1812. Elizabeth lived to be 90 years old and died in 1830. It is said that she was buried in Mendon, Massachusetts. Two of her sons eventually lived in Hudson, Columbia County, New York. They were Dr. David Mellen and ship's captain William Henry Mellen.
