Funeral services were at Mt. St. Michael Church, Spokane, Wash., Friday, June 3. Burial was in Holy Rosary Cemetery in Spokane.
Donald Torczon was born June 23, 1934, in Platte County, to Frank and Mary (Shotkoski) Torczon. He served in the military from September 1954-September 1956. He worked as a senior planning engineer for the Nebraska Public Power District in Columbus from 1961 until his retirement in 1997. In 1997, he married Jo LaJoie and moved to Rathdrum, Idaho.
Don was a special man, loved by all. He was also a religious man known for his kindness, generosity and good example. He nursed until their death stepsons Brian and Mark LaJoie, who died of muscular dystrophy. He loved the grandchildren and playing cards was a favorite pastime.
He is survived by his wife, Jo; stepchildren Joe, James (Ixchel) LaJoie, Madeline (Ricky) Gutierrez and Lucy (David) Mordue; sister Edomina Pinger; brother Alex; sister-in-law Marie Torczon, all of Omaha; Marie (Emil) Krings, Humphrey; sister Betty (Prentise) Beebe, Omaha; sister Norma (David) Duren, Columbus; twin brother David (Grace) Torczon, Omaha; 12 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary Torczon; brother, Edward; stepsons Brian and Mark LaJoie; and brother-in-law, Norbert Pinger.
