Maynard John Entringer was born on April 10, 1919 in Bancroft Iowa. He was the son of Nicholas "Nick" and Mary Ann (Dinger). The family moved to North Dakota, living in Wyndmere, Mandan, and finally settling in Bismarck (a 1925 Census shows them as living in Bismarck).
Maynard attended St. Mary's Central High School, graduating from there in 1937. He excelled in both basketball and baseball, and often talked about his memories of watching Leroy "Satchel" Paige play baseball in Bismarck. He attended one year of college after his graduation in Portland, Oregon.
Maynard married his high school sweetheart, Anne Homer, on June 30, 1941 at the St. Mary's Parish Rectory in Bismarck.
He served with a New York National Guard Unit during WWII - participating in the Pacific Campaign. He was a PFC during his time in the Army.
He worked as a salesman for his entire professional career after returning home from WWII.

After his wife, Anne, became ill with Alzheimers, he was very much devoted to her care and to her. After her death in 1999 he became more involved in parish events, volunteering for the church, and participating in the Living Stations of the Cross (something he was particularly proud of).
He died on Feb. 1, 2006 at St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck.
