Gietzen of Glen Ullin, Russell of Mckenzie, Joanne, Mrs. Michael Willette of Delavan, Mn.,, Geneva, Mrs. Philip Kurtz of Bismarck, and Virginia, Mrs. Lloyd Benz of Steele. May she rest in peace.

"Our mother loved poetry. It was both pleasure and prayer to her. When we were young, she sang songs and recited poetry to us while we worked, while we waited in the car, when we were bored, or sick, or couldn't sleep. She had a few lines of the great classics for every occasion ... the good times, the bad times, the funny times, and the worry times. She was mistress of the wry comment ... in verse. She loved Shakespeare. Lewis Carrol's Alice in Wonderland made her laugh until she had to sit on the kitchen stool and catch her breath. She knew lines and lines of Sir Walter Scott, Tennyson, Milton, and several Welsh and Scotch-Irish bards no one else ever heard of.
In her old age, with other faculties failing, her memory of lilting lines and a well-tuned phrase remained sharp and clear. This rich treasure was a comfort to her and the source of her remarkable patience and wit. It was as though her spirit, where prayer and poetry lingered, was indeed immortal, as her mind became unpredictable and her body was devastated by illness and the burden of years.
In saying our goodbye to her, we thank her for this gift, which cheered and enriched our lives and that of our Dad. Should there be any delay at the gates of heaven, no doubt she will sigh, and begin ...
'tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow
creeps in this petty pace
from the last syllables of recorded time ...'"
