LaVern T. Hageness, 85, of Altoona, formerly of Mondovi, passed away Saturday, May 22, 2010 at Oakwood Villa Nursing Home, Altoona, with his family at his side.
He was born on November 29, 1924 in Buffalo Co. to Theodore and Gusty (Torgenson) Hageness. He married Genesse Stankey on Feb. 14, 1943 at the Methodist Church in Mondovi.
LaVern worked as an Operator. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local 139, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Eau Claire for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working in his garage. LaVern was a great handyman.
LaVern is survived by his wife, Genesse of Altoona; a son, Marvin (Mari Lee) Hageness of Anniston, AL.; two sisters, Orene Bloss of Mondovi, Lois (Andy) Yealey of Mondovi; a brother, Theodore (Yvonne) Hageness of Yuma, AZ; sister-in-law, Diane Hageness of Spanway, WA.
Preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Jerald, Kenneth and Marvin.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 27, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Kjentvet - Smith Funeral Home in Mondovi with the Rev. Rolf Morck officiating. Burial will be at the Oak Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 27, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. at the Kjentvet - Smith Funeral Home in Mondovi.
