Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Winterrowd Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery with full military honors conducted by members of the Streator Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. Serving as pallbearers will be Matthew Horton, Aaron Keller, Chris Hass, Josh Alberts, Edward Webster and Mike and Mark Wheeler.
Bob was born Nov. 7, 1922, in Streator, to Joseph and Harriet (Hoit) Horton. He married Joan Llewellyn on Jan. 11, 1951. She passed away on Feb. 23, 1998.
Surviving are children, Robert J. (Marlene) Horton of Streator, Tamra (Darryl) Alberts of Streator, Arthur W. (Corrine) Horton of Burlington, Wis., Jenny (Gary) Webster of Streator and Mary (Tim) Aranjo of Glen Ellyn; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; brother, John Horton of Montana; sisters, Edna Richards of Streator, Mary Ann Reynolds of Streator and Thelma Gouliard of Pekin; brother-in-law, Donald Paddock of Rockville, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by a son, David; brothers, Arthur, Donald, Walter, George, James and Ralph Horton; and two sisters, Ellen Houchin and Lyla Whitney.
Bob attended Streator grade schools and Streator High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He retired from Thatcher Glass in 1980 and was a member of Streator VFW Post 1492 and formerly a bowler with the Streator Men's Bowling League.
