Death of Jacob Davis

"Jacob Davis, four-year veteran of the Civil War and for many years a resident of Crook County, died at Hot Springs, S.D., July 19 at the age of 78 years, and was buried at Upton July 22, according to the Upton Gazette. He is survived by one son, Wm. E. Davis, one daughter, Mrs. Amos Cook, and five grandchildren. He was a native of Ohio and in 1869 he married Miss Lizzie E. Richardson and was the father of six children, the death of four of these preceding his passing. He was well known in Sundance and by everyone in the Kara mountain neighborhood, where he owned a ranch and resided for years."
