Born to Patrick McBride Clark and Elizabeth R. Danger. He was a farmer and was in the Civil War a Privte Co. D 87 IL Vol Inf Mounted Infranty. He was fast a foot and loved to race folks. April 7, 1864 was wounded at Wilson Farm, Louisiana; shot in face. April 12, 1864 hurt hip when horse reared and he fell on pensel of saddle, and again 12 December 1864 hurt hip when horse reared. His brother John along with his father Patrick McBride Clark served in the 87 IL Vol Inf. William was married three times his first to Sarah Holstine in 1859 and she died Mills Shoals, Illinois February 1866 and is buried in unmarked grave t Shrewsbury, Ilinois. His second marriage was in 1866 to Matilda Steele who who was born 1845 and died around 1876 in Hamilton County, Illinois. She is in an unmarked grave somewhere in Hamilton County, Illinois. This marriage produced three children one son Thomas and two girls Lercia and Rosetta (Belle) who married a William Ingram. William's third marriage was to Martha Ann Talley 2 October 1877 the daughter of William Talley and Mary Thaxton. This marriage produced three boys Harry Henderson, Lynn H. and Walter and two daughters Kittie Kathryn and Alice. Martha born 1859 in Illinois and died Mill Schoals, Illinois and buried in unmarked grave at Shrewsbury Cemetery.
