Ernest was a U.S. Army veteran (First Sergeant) of World War One, Freemason, game warden, business owner, and strong supporter of World War Two military veterans. He was born to Lycurgus McPherson of Missouri and Elizabeth Helen Moore of California. He wed Lola Lea Hixson June 3, 1922 in Ukiah, California, also gaining two step-children: Elizabeth Jayne Hixson Cordes (Find A Grave # 67943321); and Roy Lea "Bud" Hixson (Find A Grave # 68073708). From the union also came a son, legally of the same name, but best known as Edward. Descendants have relationships to Revolutionary War patriots through McPherson, Hale, and Kincheloe ancestors.
