Lois F. Johnson, Galesburg Chapel 84, of Galesburg, died at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, June 5, 2011 in Seminary Manor.
She was born April 7, 1927 in Aurora, Ill., the daughter of William and Laura Riedel Berger. She married Charles E. Johnson on January 24, 1953 in Aurora. He preceded her in death on April 7, 1997.
She is survived by a son, Steve (and Marcia) Johnson of Galesburg; two daughters, Vickie (and Robert) Showalter of Galesburg and Sandra Young of Gilson; and eight grandchildren, Greg Johnson, Stephanie Johnson, Jenna Carraci, Kimberly Showalter, Sheri Berg, Travis Young, Cody Young and Rick Johnson. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Larry Johnson on June 9, 2008; three brothers; a sister; and a granddaughter, Kristen.
Lois worked at Maytag Corporation as a laborer for 21 years, retiring in 1988. She was born and raised in Aurora, Ill. and moved to Galesburg in 1966. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was a devoted bingo player.
Funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Kirk Kendall will officiate. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel.
