Son of Emil Hiykel and Sandra (Simet) Hiykel was born in Omaha, NE. He was one of two children born to this union. He attended Omaha Public Schools and graduated from Omaha North High School. After graduation Justin attended U.N.O. for two years. In March of 2010, Justin moved to Peru, NE with his fiancée Theresa. He was very happy in Peru. Justin enjoyed the laid back pace of small town living and was fascinated by the history and heritage of Peru. Justin loved nature walks, exploring new places and spending time with Theresa and his family. He was self employed specializing in reptile sales. Justin was very passionate about all animals especially his turtles and his dogs. He was a member of the Nebraska Herpetological Society. On Saturday, June 4, 2011 Justin suffered a severe asthma attack and was taken to Nemaha County Hospital in Auburn, NE where he passed away having reached the age of 33 years, 10 months, and 12 days. Justin is survived by his parents, Emil and Sandra Hiykel of Omaha, NE; sister Lyndsay Hiykel of Blair, NE; fiancée Theresa Westfall of Peru, NE; grandmother Madeline Simet of Omaha, NE; many other relatives and friends.
