SALEM - Dawn Rae passed away peacefully on June 2nd in Salem, Oregon. She was born in Seattle, Washington during the Seattle blackout of Pearl Harbor. A Seattle paper article said the following: "There'll be no more black-outs at the home of Norville Leuck, Boeing employee. From now on it'll always be "Dawn".

Dawn lived with her family in Quincy Washington where she attended grade school and high school and where she still has many friends. She married Ronald Amundson in Marysville, Washington on December 21, 1959 and together they raised four children and welcomed many grandchildren in Washington, Santa Barbara, California and Pleasant Hill, Oregon. During her years in Oregon Dawn enjoyed regularly hosting non-denominational church services in her home.

Dawn was preceded in death by her fifth child, Seth Charles Amundson in 1974 and her beloved husband, Ron in 1986. Also by her parents, Norville and Erma Leuck and a brother, Henry Paul Leuck.

Dawn graduated from Nursing School in Roseburg, Oregon in 1987 and began a 10 year career as a Post Surgical Nurse, retiring in 1997.

In 1988 Dawn married Alvin Damm, also from Quincy, Washington. Their combined families included 6 children, 15 grandchildren, and one great grandchild with one on the way. They celebrated 23 years of marriage.

After retiring, Dawn loved living near the Little North Fork River in Mehama, Oregon in their cabin in the woods with Alvin and her dog Pepper. Her children, grandchildren, and friends all enjoyed coming to visit and swim.

Dawn is survived in death by her husband, Alvin Damm of Mehama, Oregon as well as her children, Monti Amundson of Portland, Oregon, Veronica Spencer of Roseburg, Oregon, Mamie Wheeler of Portland Oregon and Paula Torgeson of Santa Clarita, California. Also by Alvin's sons, Doug Damm of Portland, Oregon and Tim Damm of Portland, Oregon.

Also by her grandchildren, Rachel Spencer, Jessica Traynor, Ronald Spencer, Andrew Nealon, Ariel Friedman, and by Olivia, Roman, and Samson Wheeler, Jacob, Kristiane, and Juliet Torgeson, as well as Alvin's grandchildren Tabitha, Sabryna, Morgan, and Alexis Damm. And also by her great grandchildre Cameron Zielsdorf and Hannah Rose Traynor.

Dawn is also survived in death by her brothers, Frank Leuck, John Leuck and Steven Leuck, and by her sister, Sally Wishoff. Also by her many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at City View Funeral Home, 390 Hoyt Street S, Salem, OR 97302 on June 13th at 10:00 am. The burial service will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hwy 58, Pleasant Hill, Oregon on June 13th at 4:00 pm where she will be laid to rest next to Ronald and Seth. Both services are open to all family and friends.
