He was born in 1834 in Warren County, North Carolina. His parents were Mark Carter Clanton and Parthenia Wilson. Abraham C. Clanton was married to Mary Williams on January 16, 1854 in Maury County, Tennessee. He died as a prisoner in the Union prison camp at Camp Douglas.
