Daughter of Barnabas 'Barney' Thomas [1812 NC] & Roxanne A Best [1820 NC] lived in Jasper Co MS.

Mrs. Helen Armstrong, widow of the late John Armstrong, whose death was recorded in the last issue of The Times, was one of the pioneer residents of Ocean Springs. Mrs. Armstrong had lived in this city continuously for sixty
years and saw the city grow from an obscure hamlet to a flourishing little city.
When she passed away Mrs. Armstrong was in her 73rd year. She was born in Jasper County, Miss. and moved to Ocean Springs, then called Lynchburg, when she was thirteen years old.
She was married to John Armstrong in 1882 and to this union one son, Don was born. Mr. Armstrong died several years ago and Don died a year or so later.
Mrs. Armstrong was a member of the Baptist church for over fifty years.
She was a lady who loved her home and of late years seldom left it. During the last few weeks of her life she was removed to the home of her grand-son and grand-daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Armstrong, where she remained until
her passing on Thursday, April 26.
Deceased is survived by one brother, George Thomas of Ocean Springs and number of grandchldren
The funeral was held Friday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock from the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Armstrong. Rev. Hamll, paster of the Baptist church conducted the
services.
Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery beside her husband and son. Many attended the last rites and the floral offerings were numerous and beautiful.
