L. S. McCulloch d. aged 51y.
Here is an obit for Dr. McCulloch from the Berea Ohio newspaper - Grindstone City Advertiser dated 5 Dec 1878. Since the tombstone has his initials as "L. S." I believe that the initials of "L.C." in the newspaper are incorrect.

DEATH OF DR. MCCULLOCH

The many friends of Dr. L. C. McCulloch, in northern Ohio, will be pained to learn of his death, which occurred at his home in Stevens Point, Wisc., last Sunday evening, December 1st. We learn that he was a great sufferer and for two or three weeks previous to his death, delirious occasioned by an excessive quantity of blood forced into the brain, his disease being aneurism, or dilation, of the aorta. His remains were conveyed to Brockport, N. Y., for interment.

Dr. McCulloch was formerly one of our most prominent citizens; he was one of the founders of this paper, the originator of the pharmacy department in the University, and a generous benefactor to many a worthy enterprise; an evidence of his liberality may seen in the gift of the front window of the Congregational Church, and his initials now grace the same. During his years residence here, he won the esteem of all who knew him. The sympathy of the entire community is extended to the bereaved widow in her great grief.

A post card from Mrs. McCulloch to Mr. W. W. Noble, gives the hope that she may visit her many Berea friends, before her return to Wisconsin. In a future issue, we shall publish a more extended account of the Doctor's life.
