The obituary I've posted here is from the Prairie Advocate in Lanark, but the Rockford Morning Star's copy of the obituary (GenealogyBank.com) in its December 25, 1996 edition also gives the December 22, 1996 date. I've pasted the Social Security Applications & Claims Index (from Ancestry.com) below. Apparently whoever filled out the form at the Social Security Administration copied the wrong date and/or was given the wrong date. You'd think they'd check, but apparently not.
