James Lucas, 49, Dies
NASHVILLE – James M. (Bud) Lucas, 49, of Nashville route 2, died at 5 o'clock this morning at Veterans hospital in Indianapolis. He had been ill two days. Mr. Lucas was employed at Elkins Auto Parts in Columbus.
Mr. Lucas was born in Brown County Oct 24,1911, the son of Omer and Bessie Lucas. He was a veteran of World War II and was married to Miss Dora Mathis Aug 12, 1933, in Columbus.
Survivors are the wife; a son, Kenneth Lucas, at home; seven daughters, Mrs. Norma Jean Petro, Mrs. Nellie Petro of Nashville, Mrs. Hazel M. Rice of Bloomington, and Linda, Betty, Molly and Dollie, all at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Omer Lucas of Nashville; nine brothers, Chester and Waltz Lucas of Columbus, Joseph, Earl, Woodrow, Ralph, Malcolm, Clarence and Merrill Lucas, all of Nashville; seven sisters, Mrs. Mabel Mathis, Mrs. Helen Hardin, Miss Mary Lucas, and Mrs. Amy Hardin, all of Nashville, Mrs. Lora J. Baldwin of Elizabethtown, Mrs. Ershel Folks and Mrs. Irene Baker of Columbus, Route 5.
Funeral will be at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon at the Bond Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. James Hendricks. Burial will be at Reeves Cemetery. Casket will be open at the funeral home after noon Saturday.
