He was born September 12, 1947 in Chicago, IL the son of Philip Cohodes and the late Dora (Dwoskin) Cohodes. Barry graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1965 and was a lifelong resident of the area. He was a U. S. Navy veteran. He worked for Florence County as a deputy sheriff for several years and retired in 1982. Barry married Cheryl Warmuth on November 22, 1991 in Iron Mountain. He was a member of the Uren-Cooper-Johnson American Legion Post 50, the International Arabian Horse Association, and the Wisconsin Desert Horse Association. He was a past member of the Great Lakes Arabian Horse Association, the Bay De Noc Kennel Club and the Iron Mountain-Kingsford Lions Club, where he was a past president. Barry loved his dogs and had a passion for horses.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl; his father, Philip Cohodes of Powers; a brother, Jerry Cohodes of Prescott Valley, AZ; a sister, Marsha Cohodes of Detroit; his mother and father-in-law, Mary Lu and Frank Warmuth; sisters and brothers-in-law, Cathy (Steve) Schoen and Jill (Art) Alleva; and several nieces and nephews.
Barry was preceded in death by his mother, Dora Cohodes and a nephew, Todd Schoen.
Private family graveside services will be held at a later date.
