The Boston Globe, August 24.
RUMFORD, Me., Aug. 26 - The Funeral of Maxwell Hayes was held Friday afternoon at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. David E. Hayes on Knox Street, and the remains taken to Portland for burial on the afternoon train. Rev. William M. Forgrave of Kittery conducted the serivces. An investigation of the wiring of the house by the engineer of the Power Co. has shown that the electric wiring had no connection with his death. The place was found where lighting entered the roof and the boy was standing in just the place so that it passed thru the boy, entering the forehead and passing thru one side to the foot. The electric bulb was broken by the power of the lighting.
