Jan, 56, died Monday, October 9, 2006, at her home.

She was born to Ernest Eugene & Marcella (Kelly) Rhoades.
She married Stephen Sluyter on July 4, 1975, in Peoria, IL.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ernest Rhoades.

Surviving are her husband Stephen of Algoma, Wisconsin; Her daughter, Megan of Elkhorn, Wisconsin; her mother, Marcella Anderson of Washington, Illinois; two brothers, Robert (Sandy) and John Rhoades, both of Washington, Illinois; one sister, Kristine (Ed) Page of Washington, Illinois; one step-sister, Paula Templeton of Peoria, Illlinois, and several nieces and nephews.

Jan was a teacher for most of her career. While in Peoria, she taught at Mid-State College and substituted at area high schools. While in Algoma, she taught at the University of Wisconsin, and substituted at area high schools. She was an active volunteer with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation for over 20 years. Her daughter Megan was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis as a baby.

Cremation has been accorded. Arrangements are my Schinderle Funeral Home in Algoma, Wisconsin. Services will be private.

Memorial contributions may be make to the Cystic Fibrosis Fundation.
