Walter E. Morningstar, 73, of Huntingdon R.D. 3 died early this morning, Thursday, January 28, 1971, at 12:30 o'clock in the J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital. He had been in failing health since 1961. He was born on April 18, 1897 at Huntingdon R.D. 1, a son of Harry B. and Mary C. (Long) Morningstar. He was united in marriage to Alice M. Whitfield of Hopewell on August 17, 1918 at Cumberland, MD. Surviving are his wife and these children: Mrs. Thomas (Ruth) Lightner, Huntingdon R.D. 2, Elvin Morningstar, Huntingdon R.D. 3, Mrs. Harry (Jean) Lukens, Hollidaysburg, Mrs. Donald (Helen) Rhone, Huntingdon R.D. 1, Mrs. Merle (Betty) Brown, Huntingdon R.D. 3, and Mrs. Jack (Olive) Bishop, Chardon, Ohio. There are 18 grandchildren and 11 great- grandchildren. Morningstar was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene at McConnellstown. He had been employed by the J.C. Blair Company for approximately 20 years, retiring in 1961 due to disability. Interment wil be made in Huntingdon Memorial Gardens at Huntingdon R.D. 1.
