W. W, Adams
William Watson Adams (whose death was briefly noted in a former issue) was born in Linn County, Missouri, Sept. 7, 1842. He departed this life May 26, 1909, aged 66 years, 8 months, and 19 days. He came to Iowa in the early forties with his foster parents, his parents having died when he was small. He enlisted in Co. G. 40th Iowa Infantry, August 20, 1862, serving his country faithfully for three years, and was discharged Nov. 30, 1865. He married Mary Jane London Banta, November 30, 1865: to this union were born eight children - John Q. Adams, living near Indianola; Rene, wife of C. L. Zin; Alfred and W. A. Adams, of Medora; Bertha, wife of W. C. Smith, and Nora, still at home. Cora E. and Logan Edward preceded him in death. He was converted in early boyhood and joined the Methodist Church. He was asked during his sickness if he was afraid to die, and quickly answered "No". We mourn not as those who have no hope. The funeral was held in the Gosport M. E. Church, conducted by Rev. J. A. Branson, of Dallas, and the body laid to rest in the Gosport Cemetery.
