Sam Aaron, ex-Jamestown mayor, dies at 79 From Staff and Special Dispatches JAMESTOWN, Ky. Sam Aaron, a former Jamestown mayor, died of cancer yesterday at Russell County Hospital in Russell Springs. He was 79. Aaron was mayor from 1978 to 1981. He was elected to the Russell County Chamber of Commerce Hall of Fame in 1981 and was named Russell County Man of the Year in 1979. He was retired vice president of J. A. Jones Construction Co. Survivors include a daughter, Harriet Childers of Atlanta; three brothers, Keith and Bobby Aaron, both of Russell Springs, and Clifford Aaron of Kingsport, Tenn.; a sister, Jo Nell Johnson of Louisville; three grandchildren; and a great grandchild. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. tomorrow at H. E. Pruitt Memory Chapels, with burial in Jamestown Cemetery. Visitation is after 5:30 p.m. today. The family asks that memorial gifts go to the Jamestown Lions Club Beautification Program.
