Earl Thomas Knighton was born in Kirbyville, Texas on February 24, 1934. His parents were Robert Reagan Knighton and Leona Lewis Knighton. Earl went to school at Kirbyville High School. Earl met his future wife, Mary Sue Hall at the Henderson Drug Store when he was nineteen years old. Earl was home from the service and stopped for a coffee. It was love at first sight and on May 13, 1950, he married the love of his life, his soul mate. For the next 59 years, their marriage would experience many ups and downs, but their love for each other only grew. To Earl there was no other woman on earth but his Mary Sue. Earl resided in Shepherd, Texas until his Sue joined the angels in heaven. He then decided to move in with his daughter, Cindy in Kingwood, where he would be surrounded by family and great grandchildren. He began a garden in the backyard and though he will not be here to harvest, he has passed on the love of gardening to his grandchildren. On May 27, 2011, at the age of eighty, Earl took his Mary Sue's hand and entered the gates of Heaven. Earl enjoyed family get-togethers, playing dominos and Barbequing for his family and friends. His children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were always first in his life. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held at the Earl's home, 2122 Rolling Meadows, Kingwood, Texas, on Sunday June 5, 2009, at noon. Family and friends are invited to come and celebrate the life of Earl Thomas Knighton.
