Lydia McDaniel Crossley, 88, of Columbus, MS, passed away on Tuesday,Sept. 7, 2004, at Baptist Memorial Hospital - GT in Columbus, MS.

Visitation for Mrs. Crossley will be this evening from 6-8 p.m. at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral services will be Thursday, Sept. 9, 2004, at 10 a.m. in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro.Pat Creel officiating. Interment will be in the New Hope Methodist Church Cemetery in Vernon, AL, with Lowndes Funeral Home of Columbus,MS directing. Mrs. Crossley was born April 24, 1916, to the late Luther D. Pennington and Mollie A. Pennington. She had lived in Columbus for the past 75 years, having moved from Monroe County, MS, and was a member of Northside Freewill Baptist Church of Columbus, MS. Mrs. Crossley was owner and operator of Greenhill Grocery, Crossley's Cash and Carry Grocery Store, and retired in 1978 from UnitedTechnologies after 25 years of service. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Otho McDaniel, in 1968, and second husband, Raymond Crossley, in 1995. Mrs. Crossley is survived by her daughter, Mary JoMcDaniel Sabinson of Columbus, MS; grandchildren, Tommy Noblin (Dale) of Ashville, AL, Lena Noblin of Columbus, MS, and Vi Noblin of Birmingham, AL; and great-grandchildren, Tommy Lee Noblin, Tifanie Noblin, Tyler Noblin, and Skylar Noblin. Pallbearers will be Tommy Noblin, Tommy Lee Noblin, Robert Malone, John Pitts, Billy Crossley, and Max Porter. Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Pickle, Buford Doughty, and Rayford Foster. Memorials may be sent to Freewill Baptist Children's Home, P.O. Box 8, Eldridge, AL 35554.
