Born May 25, 1914, to Peter Lee and Sally Margaret Walker of Beaver County, Oklahoma, she married Herbert Burditt in 1935. In 1953, Herbert and Mary moved their family to Arkansas where she has made her home since. An affirmed Methodist, she faithfully attended and ministered with the members of Brush Creek Baptist Church for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, an infant son, Russell, and her eldest son, Forest Burditt, one daughter, Marveleen Cook, one daughter-in-law, Carol Burditt, one granddaughter, Carla Sanders, and her brother, John Walker.
Survivors include three sons, Vernon Burditt and wife, Polly of Converse, TX, David Burditt of Hamilton, MS, and Doyle Burditt and wife, Jeanette of Highfill, AR; two daughters, Johnny Stamps and husband, Joe of Fayetteville, AR, and Bonnie Lawson and husband S.L. of Springdale, AR; one daughter-in-law, Brenda Burditt, of Sale, Victoria, Australia; one son-in-law, Ivan Cook of Southwest City, MO; twenty-two grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, April 27, at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home in Springdale. The graveside service will be on Monday, April 28, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at Thornsberry Cemetery with Rev. Terry Eaton officiating.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Duane Baskin, Clifford Casey, David Casey, Nettie Davis, Howard Ferguson, Roger Gunem, Jim McCoy, and John Taylor.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts to the Thornsberry Cemetery Assoc., c/o Carolyn Page, 2776 West Henri de Toni Blvd., Springdale, AR 72762, or the Circle of Life Hospice, 901 Jones Road, Springdale, AR 72762.
