Hilton Dewayne Clinton, 80, died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2003, in the Rehab and Care Center of Jackson County in Murphysboro.
Services will be in Mount Joy Cemetery, with Pastor Mark Irwin officiating. Military services will be conducted by American Legion Post 127, VFW Post 7190, VFW Post 2605 and Jackson County Disabled American Veterans Chapter 69. Burial will be at Mount Joy Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials can be made to Mount Joy Cemetery Association. Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Clinton was born Friday, Feb. 23, 1923, in Willisville, to Jacob Clinton and Arzilla Bird Clinton. He married Margie Jean O'Banion Clinton on Dec. 11, 1943, in Chicago, and she survives in Murphysboro.
He was a retired auto body repairman. He served in the Navy and was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of American Legion Paul Stout Post 127 and the VFW Post 7190, both of Murphysboro.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol R. Casper of Florissant, Mo.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dewayne and Lynn Clinton Jr. of Mascoutah and William and Karen J. Clinton of Murphysboro; two sisters, Oleta Knop of Staunton and Betty Rogers of San Francisco, Calif.; two brothers, Leslie Clinton of Ava and Jake Clinton of Arcadia, Calif., nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. His parents and one brother, Walter "Bud" Clinton preceded him in death.
