Ballston Spa—Henry J. Bliss, Church Ave., died early this morning in the Benedict Memorial Hospital [Ballston Spa], following a lingering illness.
He was born in Burnt Hills, June 17, 1865, and was employed for many years at the Watervliet Arsenal as an electrician and foreman. He retired in 1922 to his farm at East Line [Road] and later moved to Ballston Spa.
During his employment at the Arsenal he resided in Watervliet and was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and a vestryman. He was a member of Evening Star Lodge, Hudson River Chapter and Bless Council. At the time of his death he was Senior Warden and treasurer of St. John’s Episcopal Church, East Line [Road].
He is survived by his wife, the former Lelah E. Wakeman, his daughter, Mrs. William G. Baxter, Ballston Spa, two grandchildren, Sgt. William B. Baxter, U.S. Army Air Corps, and Miss Elizabeth H. Baxter, and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Christ Episcopal Church. The residence will be open Tuesday evening.
