Rites Held For Arthur Behrens
Funeral services were held at St. St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Postville on Monday at 2:00 p.m. for Arthur Behrens, 90, who passed away on Saturday, August 15. The rites were in charge of Rev. Charles E. Witt, pastor of St. Paul's. burial was in Postville cemetery.

Born in Wisconsin
Arthur Behrens, son of Carolina Mintzloff and Ahrend Behrens, was born August 20, 1862 in Cedarburg, Wisconsin. He received his early education in a school near Grafton, Wisconsin At the age of 20, he came to Garnavillo, Iowa and engaged in the carpenter trade. He helped build the original Lutheran Church and parsonage in Postville.

On February 4, 1892 he was married at Garnavillo to Mary Elizabeth Meier. To this union were born three children, Arbe, Lorene and William. In 1903 they bought the farm northeast of Postville. His wife, Mary died September 28, 1913. On May 4, 1916 he was married to Margaret Kohlwey of Grafton, Wisconsin. They bought a home in Postville in September 1918, where they lived until hrs death, August 15, 1953. He suffered a slight stroke in August. He would have attained the age of 91 years on August 20.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Anna (Mrs. Frank Ernst) of Visalia, California, three brothers, Henry and Charles of Cedarburg and Fred of Chicago. he is survived by his wife Margaret, his three children, Arbe of Postville, Lorene (Mrs. H. T. Barker) of Boulder, Colorago, William of Racine, Wisconsin; two
sisters, Lena (Mrs. Christ Schuette), of Cedarburg, Wisconsin and Marie (Mrs. Walter Ahlers) of Grafton, Wisconsin and five grandchildren, Richard, Thomas and James Barker, Mary and Kathryn Behrens.
