Clementine "Clem" M. Young, 77 of Earlville, died Sunday, March 8, 2009 at the Dubuque Mercy Medical Center following a sudden illness.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 12, 2009 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Earlville by Rev. Herbert Tegeler. Family will greet friends from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 11 where there will be a 3:00 p.m. scripture service, and after 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home in Earlville. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Earlville.

Clem was born January 28, 1932 in Ryan, the daughter of Clemens and Ellen (Sheridan) Offerman.

Graduating from the Coggon High School in 1950, she attended one year of nursing school and worked at the Delaware County Memorial Hospital as a nurse's aid.

She was married and was blessed with five children whom she raised on her own.

On January 29, 1967 she was united in marriage to Robert Young at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.

Clem stayed at home raising her family. Following Robert's death in 1979, Clem worked at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester, at the Dyersville Hospital, did home-care for elders, and day-care at St. Joseph's Day Care in Earlville.

Clem was a member of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church and was active in the church activities and volunteering. She loved to dance and enjoyed being outside. Her biggest joy was her family.

Clem is survived by five children, Jim (Tricia) Manson of Earlville, Dennis (Marilyn) Manson of Palo, Ed Manson of Jacksonville, FL, Julie (Kyle) Stewart of Dubuque, and Janice (Dave) Nelson of Grayslake, IL; four step-children, Cheryl Meader of Delhi, Terry (Pat) Young of Earlville, Bonnie Rodriquez of Earlville, and Roger (Lana) Young of Delhi; six grandchildren, Lee and Jerad Manson, Joshua and Justin Manson, and Cameron and Connor Stewart; nine step-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Anna (Don) Burns of Dubuque and Cecila Behan of Cedar Rapids; two sisters-in-law, Lila Offerman of Delaware and Maxine Offerman of Manchester.

Clem was preceded in death by her parents, Clemens and Ellen Offerman, her husband, Robert Young; siblings, Sister Mary Columba Offerman - PBVM, Joseph, Ralph, Dorrance, and Cletus Offerman; and one brother-in-law, Louis Behan.
