Maxwell Roy Barz - October 20, 1915 ? February 11, 2004

Maxwell Roy Barz of Austin died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004, at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Grand Junction. He was 88.
A military memorial service is pending. Burial will be at Sunset View Cemetery in Eagle.
Mr. Barz was born Oct. 20, 1915, in Grand Junction to Blanche E. McKay and Herman Richard Barz. He spent his childhood in De Beque.
He married Lela Fish on March 10, 1938, in Leadville. She preceded him in death on Dec. 4, 1964, in Gypsum.
He was previously married to Daphna Hays.
Mr. Barz served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a staff sergeant. He was an armaments specialist.
He lived in Minturn and Eagle for 50 years. He also lived in Big Water, Utah.
Mr. Barz served for 12 years as the Eagle County Clerk and Recorder.
He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, the VFW post in Minturn and the American Legion in Gypsum.
Mr. Barz loved hunting and fishing. For several years, he worked with VFW in Minturn. He also worked at Fitzsimmons Hospital in Denver taking veterans on fishing trips to the Flat Tops.
He is survived by a son, ......., of .....; by a daughter, .........of .......; by a brother, ........, of ...........; by five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and by special friends ........of ......and .........of ................
