John's sibling Mary Wilbur (the first one) was born in 1841
The family moved to California circa 1864, coming by way of the Isthmus of Panama by railroad, in the very first party across by that method. From there they took a boat to San Francisco and settled in Woodside for about 5 years before moving to Half Moon Bay. In 1873 they moved south by their own wagon team to San Bernardino/Riverside area, living for at least a time on Colton Ave.
