Alexander Bell Marshall was born to John Marshall and Mary Jane Bell on 15 Nov. 1863 in Wishaw, Lanarkshire, Scotland. Alex decided to move to the US with two friend to look for work in the coal mining industry. He arrived in 1886 and settled in Streator, Ill.
There he met and married Jeanette Stewart Peacock on 12 Feb 1888 at Park Presbyterian Church in Streator. Jeanette and Alex reared 7 children: John, Isabella, Mary Jane, George, Janet, Bessie and Mildred. Alex died on 10 Nov 1942.
