ROODHOUSE - Mae Doss Mirus, 87, of Alsey died at 2:20 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, at Scott County Nursing Home in Winchester.

She was born Aug. 9, 1898, in Scott County, a daughter of Charles and Minnesota Wilder Day. She married Virgil Doss on March 31, 1918. He died on Aug. 28, 1964. She then married Ben Mirus. He also preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, J. Vernon Doss of rural Roodhouse; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Chester Day of Manchester; and two sisters, Thelma Barnett and Vida Jefferson, both of Winchester. She was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

She was a lifetime member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and was a practical nurse.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church south of Alsey with burial in Williams-Edwards Cemetery at Barrow. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Tuesday, with family meeting friends 6 to 9 p.m. at Mackey-Daws Funeral Home in Roodhouse.
