She was a native of East Lake, NC and had lived in Elizabeth City for the past 50 years.
Graveside services were to be conducted Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery by the Rev. Keith Nanny. Twiford's Memorial Chapel made arrangements. Mrs. Basnight was a housewife and a member of City Road United Methodist Church.
She was the widow of the late Benjamin N. Basnight and the daughter of the late Webster and Mrs. Victoria Sanderlin Ambrose.
Mrs. Basnight is survived by one son, Bobby Basnight of Newport News, Va.; one brother, George Ambrose of East Lake, NC; and one grandchild.
