David Lee (Dave) Heisinger 81 of Jefferson City Died on Friday Morning June 10, 2011 at St Joseph Bluff in Jefferson City. he was born Deceber 17, 1929 in Jefferson City, a son of Oscar Frederick Heisinger and Hilda Ann (Veit) Heisinger. He graduated from St Peters Catholic High School in 1947.

He married Sue Ann (Susie) Volker June 9, 1956 at St Peters Church in Jefferson City. She was preceded in death on August 19, 2004 at his home.

He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving from 1951 through 1955 rising to the rank of staff sergeant and receiving the National Defense Service Medal as his service was during trhe Korean War. He entered the hearing and profession in 1955 and joined with the late Lonnie Wekenborg in the early 1960's and they established Heisinger Wekenborg Hearing Aid and Optical Service in Jefferson City's downtown where they operated for many years until their respective retirements.

Mr Heisinger was active in the Central Missouri CB rADIO cLUB BEGINNING IN THE 1960'S He was an avid outdoorsman taing the faily camping, fishing, and target and clay trap shooting. He enjoyed woodworking and reading. After retirement he volunteered at Capital Region Medical Center. He also took up bicycle riding on the Katy Trail, doing so well into his 70's remaining active until Parkinson's disease made that no longer possible.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Susie. he was also preceded in death by his wife susie's three brothers, Harold, Bob and Dick.

He is survived by one son, Matthew Heisinger, his wife Jami and their children, Kendra and Cole of Jefferson City, three daughters, Joyce Baker, her husband Phil and their daughter, Michelle of Jefferson City, Jennifer Scanland and her husband Rob of Carson City, Nevada. and Khristine Heisinger of Jefferson City,two brothers, Jim Heisinger and wife Barb of Vermillion South Dakota, and Richard Heisinger and wife Nawasa of Jefferson City. HE IS also survived by sister in law Janda Volkmer, Steilacoo, Washington. sister in law, Dian Volker, Hannibal Mo. and brother in law, Paul Volkmer and wife Betty and many beloved nieces and neohews and their children.

Friends will be received from 5-7p.m. Tuesday June 14, 2011 at the Houser Millard Funeral Hoe. Funeral services will be held at 10a.m. Wednesday June 15, 2011 at the St Joseph's Bluffs Chapel with Rev. Jim Mueller officiating. Private interment with military honors will be held in Resurrection Cemetery.

IOn lieu of flowers or plants the family requests that contributions in Dave's memory be made to either Heisinger Bluffs St Joseph Bluff in Jefferson City or to the Missouri Stat Parks Foundation earmarked for the Katy Trail.
