Mrs. Martha Long Linkous, 81, died at
8:45 p.m. Friday at the home of a daughter,
Mrs. Ethel Burke, 231 Bloom st. Sciotoville
She had been in ill health the last two years.
Last Sunday she fell at home and suffered a broken
hip.
A native of Greenup County, she was born
April 5, 1869, a daughter of Eliza and Jane
Barney Long.
She along with her family, moved here from
Siloam in1902.
She married Miles Walter Linkous in 1889. He
Preceded her in death.
Surviving are two sons, Myrt of Wheelersburg
rt. 1 and Arthur of Wheelersburg; four daughters
Mrs. Nellie Williams, Mrs. Muriel Davidson of
West Portsmouth and Mrs. Burke; 13
grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
She is the last member of a family of eight.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Linkous
was preceded in death by her parents, two
sons, three brothers and four sisters.
Mrs. Linkous was a member of Sciotoville
Christian Church for 49 years. She also
belonged to Loyal Women's Class No.2 of
the church.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday
st the church,Third and Bloom sts. with Curtis
Hess, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Rowley
Cemetery.
Friends may view the body at Gill Funeral
Home until 1 p.m. Monday. At that time it
will be taken to the church to lie in state
until services.
