Robert Borden Bates, 83, Townsview Estates, Truro, and formerly of Middle Stewiacke, died Tuesday, Jan. 6 in Colchester Hospital, Truro. Born in Middle Stewiacke, he was a son of the late George D. and Martha (Lays) Bates.
He was a retired farmer and lived in Middle Stewiacke all his life. He was a member of Middle Stewiacke United Church.
He is survived by two sisters, Maude and Mrs Elizabeth Davis, both of Middle Stewiacke; a brother, Percy, Westville; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters, Stella, Lydia, and Esther; seven brothers, Harry, Otho, Horatio, Ray, Wyman, John and Charles. The body was in Mattatall Funeral Home, Truro. Funeral was held Jan. 8 in Middle Stewiacke United Church, Rev. Larry Harrison officiating. Burial was in Middle Stewiacke Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to Middle Stewiacke United Church Memorial Fund.
