Ruby May (Waldie) Ackermann, 77, of Cobalt beloved wife of Richard F. Ackermann for 48 years passed away peacefully Wednesday (May 3, 2006) at Chestelm Health & Rehab, Moodus. Born September 26, 1928, in Hartford she was the daughter of the late Robert B. and Ruby (Green) Waldie. May as she preferred to be called attended school in Windsor. She was a graduate of St. Joseph College, West Hartford in 1950. May became a Lab Technician at Hartford Hospital and later at Duluth Clinic, Duluth, MN. After returning to Connecticut, she attended Ona Wilcox School of Nursing in Middletown. In her younger years May enjoyed horseback riding around Windsor. One of her favorite hobbies was the genealogy research of her ancestors. May will be greatly missed by all that knew her. Besides her husband she is survived by a son, Paul R. Ackermann and his wife Andrea of Tillson, NY; a cherished granddaughter, Katherine Ackermann of Tucson, AZ; two sisters, Jean Sears of Vero Beach, FL, and Marylin "Alice" Porgorzelski of Apache Junction, AZ. She was predeceased by her daughter Sarah Lynn Ackermann. A memorial service and celebration of May's life will be held Saturday, May 13, 11 a.m. at Spencer Funeral Home, 112 Main St., East Hampton. The burial of May's cremains will follow in Union Hill Cemetery, Middle Haddam. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in May's name to The Alzheimer's Association, 279 New Britain Rd, Kensington, CT 06037.
