ELKHART - James W. Calhoun Sr., 69, of Elkhart, Indiana, died at 7:35 p.m. Thursday (June 9, 2011) in Elkhart General Hospital. He was born Feb. 10, 1942, in Elizabethton, TN. On January 24, 1972, in Morristown, TN, he married Jeannie E. Johnson. She survives along with two sons, James W. "Jamie" Calhoun Jr. of Elkhart and Scott Calhoun of Bremen; one daughter, Stacie A. (Terry) Boocher of Elkhart. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and one great-grandson; and five sisters, Norma Nash, Janet (John) Wingett, Annette Rorie, all of Osceola, Naomi Smith of Mishawaka and Charlotte Steele of Dowagiac, MI. One brother, John Calhoun, preceded him in death. James was employed as a truck driver. He enjoyed watching drag racing and was a USMC veteran. The family will receive friends from 3-7 p.m. Monday (June 13, 2011) at the Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Pastor Bill Moxey, a chaplain with AseraCare Hospice, will preside and burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, where the U.S. Army Honor Guard and Elkhart DAV Chapter #19 will render military honors.
