Son of Jacob and Barbara Ellinger Körner, he was born in Backnang Stadt. He immigrated with his sisters Rosina and Louisa in 1866. Never married, he worked as a butcher/grocer in Peoria.

Because he was enfeebeled, his niece, Mary Müller Magenheimer cared for him his last 15 years.
