Son of David Bezanson & Laura Ellen Nichols

Custom Yacht Builder.
Son of a boat builder.

At the turn of the century Walter and his brothers, Afton Fenton Bezanson & Ralph Bezanson, worked together in the boat building firm of Bezanson Brothers at Beverly, Essex County, Massachusetts.

Tragic Loss of Brothers
In August 1902, Walter & Afton were involved in the search for their 20-year-old brother Ralph Bezanson, a skillful sailor, when his twenty-two-foot sailboat went missing in a sudden squall off of Little Haste island at the entrance to Salem Harbor, Massachusetts. Ralph's boat capsized; he was presumed drowned. Walter & Afton moved to California where Afton was killed in Long Beach on November 9, 1906 in the sudden collapse of 5 stories in the central wing of the Bixby Hotel under construction on beach sands facing the ocean (vintage news articles).
