BURRIS, Jeannie Sim - 85, 40 Allison Ave., Bible Hill and formerly of Middle Stewiacke, passed away June 8, 2000, in the Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Liff, Scotland, she was a daughter of the late Ewan and Jane (Cant) McBean. She was a member of the Middle Stewiacke United Church, the UCW, Overseas War Brides and a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Scotland. She served five years in the Women's Royal Naval Service during the Second World War in Britain and came to Canada in 1946 as a war bride. She resided in Middle Stewiacke for many years. She is survived by daughters, Sheena (Mrs. Allison McIver), Londonderry; Moira (Mrs. Gerry Cherrett), Lake Fletcher; son, Arthur and wife Shirley, Middle Stewiacke; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Laurie Bernard; sister, Margaret; brothers, Thomas, Robert in infancy. No visitation by request. A private graveside service will be held Monday in the Middle Stewiacke Cemetery, Rev. Larry Harrison officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice. A reception will be held on Monday, June 12, 2000 at 2:15 p.m. in the Middle Stewiacke United Church. Arrangements entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, Truro.
