SERVICES HELD OCT 19 for PAULINE BURKAM

Funeral services were held in Kirby Funeral Home Chapel, El Dorado on Tuesday, Oct 19 at 2:30pm for Pauline Burkam, 73 of Leon, who died Sunday morning, Oct 17 1976 in St Francis Hospital, Wichita.

The Rev C Merl Nutter officiated. Mrs. Bette Morris and Mrs. Arleta Hammer, accompanied by Mrs. Gladys Jones, organist, sang "It Is No Secret" and "How Great Thou Art".

Casket bearers were Edwin Gray, Jim Linder, Clarence Reiswig, Arwin Jackson, John Shell and John Ades. Burial was in the Leon Cemetery.

Bessie Pauline Burkam was born July 28, 1903 near Leon and lived in the Leon area all her life. She was the daughter of George and Lena (Wheeler) Tatum. She attended haverhill grade school and graduated from Leon High School.

On November 25, 1952, she married Elza Earl Burkam in El Dorado. They owned and operated the Leon Plumbing Company for a number of years. Mr. Burkam died Oct 31, 1971 in the hospital in Winfield following an illness of several months.

Pauline was twice Noble Grand of Naomi Rebekah Lodge No 566; and was a member of the Past Noble Grands Club and the Birthday Club and was Past Matriarch of El Dorado Ladies Encampment.

Surviving are her son and his wife, Robert and Janice Tatum of Leon; two grandaughters Linda and Judith; two grandsons James and Gerald and one great-grandaughter.

She was predeceased in death by her parents, her husband, and two sisters.
